DDU-GKYThe Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Antyodaya Diwas, on 25th September 2014. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth.

DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families. As a part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like the Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns. Over 180 million or 69% of the country’s youth population between the ages of 18 and 34 years, live in its rural areas. Of these, the bottom of the pyramid youth from poor families with no or marginal employment number about 55 million.

SRSL Group was the first textile spinning company to be selected to sign an MoU with Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society to implement DDU-GKY program in Bihar on 18th of Aug. 2014.

Case Study

DDU-GKYAfter aptitude test Pravesh selected for Ring Frame Doffer in 4th batch of SRSL at Munger Center. When he came to Center, he was nervous because he belongs to village background. He doesn’t able to speak even one word with any trainer and class mate. He was not touching even if bovine during practical but by providing regular support from his trainer he started pick up his confidence. After two weeks he was little comfortable and put off his veil. He did all classes theory as well as Lab regularly. After a one month he started to ask question frequently. In the end of 60 days training he have a good command over doffing . He placed in SRSL, Syntex unit for OJT and he completed his one month OJT successfully. During OJT he worked well and then placed as a Ring Frame Doffer in Syntex unit. Now he is earning 11500/- per month and has a dream to provide good education to his younger brother.

Case Study

DDU-GKY“I was a hopeless boy doing nothing at my home. My father is working as a labour and hardly earn 4500/- per month . There are five members in my family who depends on my father’s income so he was not able to full fill the basic requirement of my family therefore I had to discontinue my study after 10th class. One day some persons from SRSL were doing a meeting in my village. I also attended the meeting and I came to know about DDU-GKY training program. During the counseling I have selected ring frame department and I have done all the classes regularly. My trainer always improved my courage. After the completion of my course I found many changing in myself. After the training I have full confident and motivation. Currently I am working in SRSL Syntex unit as ring frame doffer and earning more than 11,000.00 rupees per month. Thanks to DDU-GKY and SRSL, who gives me an opportunity for change my life.”
